DONA International Founders' Awards
DONA International's 5th Doula Founders' Awards Committee is looking for your nominations.
DONA International is looking for your nomination in the following four categories:
THE PENNY SIMKIN AWARD This Doula Spirit and Mentorship Award honors doulas who show extraordinary doula spirit through their outstanding efforts in promoting and caring for doulas and childbearing women in their communities.
THE PHYLLIS KLAUS AWARD
The DONA International Award honors doulas who make outstanding efforts to have a positive impact on parent-infant bonding.
THE JOHN KENNELL & MARSHALL KLAUS AWARD
With the goal of improving maternal-child care, the DONA International Research Award recognizes excellence in conducting, organzing, analyzing, presenting or publishing research as it relates to the effects of doula care during and/or postpartum. The recipient has shown a good understanding of what constitutes doula care, and has contributed to the evidence-based body of studies, providing direction to doulas and perinatal health care providers.
THE ANNIE KENNEDY AWARD
This DONA International Award recognizes excellence in a doula group. The recipient group has shown the unwavering vision necessary for a group of doulas to become and remain successful, to grow, and to serve its membership. This group develops collegial relationships and works as a team providing services within its community to benefit doulas and families. This group has established a model that can be recreated successfully by other groups.
Here is your chance to honor someone you admire and respect. Maybe they touched your heart in a way they never knew. Maybe they are so selfless they don’t realize their hard work has affected waves of people. Please take the time to nominate someone. After all, you are DONA International!
All nominations are to be in essay form (200-500 words). Please submit only one nomination per category. Please include on the top of each essay, which award you are nominating the person/people for. Please include their name(s), address(s) and phone number(s) and remember to include your name, address and phone number. In addition, please add names and contact info for two additional references.
All nominations must be submitted in writing by April 30, 2007.
