| Birth Doula Recertification Overview Your DONA International birth doula certification is valid for three (3) years, and you must recertify prior to expiration. You have the option to recertify with active status or inactive status. Active status DONA certified birth doulas are listed on our web site's on-line referral listing, while inactive status doulas do not receive referrals through DONA International. Inactive status allows DONA certified birth doulas to maintain their certification even if not currently offering birth doula services.
Effective March 1, 2009: Three (3) original evaluations from your birth clients (= mothers) and the birth doula verification form are to be included in your application for birth doula recertification. Click here to access the complete packet of Birth Doula Recertification Requirements in PDF format, which includes instructions for recertifying with active or inactive status, continuing education requirements, options for alternative continuing education contact hours, all recertification forms and instructions for changing from inactive to active status.
