1. Why should I join DONA International?
DONA International is the oldest, largest and most recognized doula organization in the world. By joining DONA, you will associate yourself with doulas who hold a high standard of practice and ethics. You will be affiliated with an organization founded by some of the foremost experts on doula care. Joining DONA is the first step towards becoming a DONA International certified doula.
2. What is in a New Member Packet?
It includes a DONA International’s Bylaws, Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics and other materials that will help doulas as they start their own practices.
3. How can I be listed in the DONA International Online Referral Directory?
If you are a DONA International certified doula, you can be listed simply by contacting our home office.
4. If I am not certified yet, will I still be listed in the Online Referral Directory?
No. However, your contact information will be available to families looking for non-certified doulas via email or telephone requests to DONA International.
5. Do I have to be a DONA International member to be listed in the online Referral Directory?
Yes, but you must also be certified. Join now.
6. What discounts are available to me as a DONA International member?
You will enjoy discounted member-only prices for the annual DONA International Conference and other DONA International sponsored educational and training programs. We also offer educational videos for sale at discounted rates to members.
7. How can I become more involved in DONA International?
DONA International is a volunteer-led organization and your involvement is crucial to our ongoing success. One way to be more involved is to participate in the annual DONA International Conference. You will meet other doulas from around the globe, as well as learn valuable information that will help you with your doula practice. You may opt to be one of the more than 70 volunteers who help make the conference a success. You may also apply to join a committee or become a state, provincial or area representative, or apply for an open board position. Find out what you can do.
