Nikia Lawson, MA, BSW, BDT/CD(DONA)
I am Nikia Lawson, owner and operator of Birth Blessings Professional Doula and Birth Services referred to as “Birth Blessings.” My goal is to empower and educate people to know that they are divinely designed to give birth; to learn to trust their bodies and listen to their inner spirit as they embark on their birth journey. I am a DONA International Certified Birth Doula, a DONA International Doula of Color Trainer Fellow and a DONA International Approved Birth Doula Trainer.
I am an experienced childbirth educator and have taught classes for various community groups and hospitals since 2007. To date, I have assisted in the delivery of several hundred babies, supported more than 75 as an employee and Women’s Health Specialist for the City of Fort Worth, and over 100 families as a privately contracted community-based doula with the local county hospital in Fort Worth. As a DONA-approved birth doula trainer, I have supported the knowledge and careers of nearly 1000 birth doulas and counting. Each had embarked on their own journey and I’m grateful they chose me.
I have a Bachelor of Social Work degree and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. I have many professional credentials that help supplement my teaching environment and my commitment to support the families I serve. I also own and operate The Natural Way Birthing Project, a local non-profit organization focusing on infant mortality awareness and reduction in Fort Worth through social service programming. I am also the mother of 2 awesome children and 1 beautiful grandchild.
My future and long-term goal is to return to school to complete my postgraduate studies in Naturopathy and open a maternity group home.
Love and blessings.
