Robin Elise Weiss, PhD, AdvCD/BDT(DONA)
Robin Elise Weiss, Ph.D., MPH, AdvCD(DONA), BDT(DONA) has been a doula since 1989 and a doula trainer since 1996. As a private practitioner in Louisville, KY, and as a doula trainer working under the auspices of DONA, she has successfully maintained a steady business for more than three decades. In her years as a childbirth educator, she has operated a number of childbirth education websites, generating vibrant support communities. Previously she has served as the Treasurer of Lamaze International. As a long-time volunteer for DONA International, she’s served on committees and working groups from the website committee, advocacy, nominations, and others. With the twin pandemics of racism and COVID-19, Robin’s Ph.D. in public health would inform her decisions as she helps DONA make decisions moving forward. She is fiscally responsible, goal-oriented, and committed to childbirth advocacy.
To move DONA International forward she would like to see DONA implement a 3, 5, and 10-year strategic plan. This would help DONA become more proactive and less reactive. It would also be malleable enough to flex where needed and encompass more of the membership of DONA going forward. This would include work in policy, where DONA has already made great strides, such as working with the MOMNIBUS legislation, as well as expanding strategic partnerships we currently have and including more people, and organizations at our table.
