Danielle Winner Koontz earned her Master’s Degree in Applied Anthropology from the University of Maryland. She is director of Informed Birth Choices, a regional doula agency and childbirth education company in the Washington, DC area. Since 2011 Mrs. Koontz has held the position of Maryland State representative for DONA International, until taking the position of NE Regional Director 2016. Additionally in 2014 Mrs. Koontz accepted a position at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in the Department of Pediatric Infectious Disease as a Research Program Coordinator. Prior to her current roles Danielle worked as a consultant on Baltimore’s Health Neighborhood Initiative. She began her career in reproductive health by leading the childbirth education program at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore Maryland in 2006. She has taught childbirth education for over a decade and has attended births as a doula since 2007.
