Kathrin Auger, retired RN, CD/PCD/(DONA), PDT(DONA)
Kathrin Auger grew up in Switzerland and moved to the United States in 2002. She has an extensive background in maternity and child healthcare, integrating both medical training and experience as well as a personal commitment to healthy families. She started her nursing degree in specialized pediatric care in 1993 and worked on the NICU for several years after graduating, which included the training of pediatric nurses and midwife interns. Her years of conventional medical training feed her desire to step outside the typical medical model and go deeper into more personal care during the birth and postpartum period. She currently works as a birth and postpartum doula, committed to help parents have an easy transition into parenthood and to support them with informed decision-making. Kathrin teaches private childbirth preparation, infant care, and breastfeeding classes. She does postpartum consultations, teaches support groups for new parents and is a DONA International approved postpartum doula trainer since 2007. As such she was part of the adjunct faculty at the Simkin Center for Allied Birth Vocation at the Bastyr University in San Diego from 2013 – 2015 until they closed their doors.
Kathrin lives in Southern California with her husband and two children.
