My name is Dorothy Haines. I’ve been a DONA certified birth doula since 2004 and a birth doula trainer with DONA since 2014.  I’ve attended 240 births and I lead 4 birth doula workshops a year in Central NJ. After supporting a family member at her birth, I realized that I wanted to learn more about being a doula.  After researching various doula organizations, I decided to go with DONA, as the largest, oldest, and most well-known organization. I went to a doula training and 5 months later I was certified.  Throughout the years I’ve enjoyed learning additional skills to help my clients and I’ve attended several DONA conferences where I was able to connect and learn with my fellow DONA doulas.

I’m married to my wonderful husband Rich (who just retired) and we have 5 adult children ranging in age from 19 to 32.  I have 3 grandchildren who I love to spend time with and I had the privilege of attending all of their births.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling, spending time with my family, and volunteering through my local church.
