Nella Goho

Director of Education

Nella Goho’s entry into the world of maternal health began with the transformative birth of her
first child in 2008. This pivotal moment led her to pursue a career in both birth support and
education, a field where she has made significant contributions as a Birth Doula and Childbirth
Educator in Rochester, NY.

As a member and certified doula with DONA International since 2016, Nella has actively
devoted her time to the organization’s growth. She has served two terms on the Nominations
and Elections Committee and one term on the Conference Special Touches Committee. Nella
works to recruit individuals to train and certify with DONA. She has also stepped in to help the
organization in various ways across the years. Her desire to engage deeply within the doula
community comes, in part, to help shape the future of DONA International.

Nella enjoys teaching other doulas about Historical Scientific Racism and its creation of the
black maternal mortality and morbidity crisis and health disparities in the U.S. today.
Additionally, as a Doula Mentor at Healthy Baby Network, in Rochester NY, she provides
invaluable guidance to black doulas, aligning with her vision of accessible and equitable
maternal care. She has experience training others as well as training trainers to further facilitate
their organization’s goals.

Nella’s ultimate goal is to leverage her multitude of experiences to further DONA International’s mission.
